Cadets Event at Burton Court
The Royal British Legion recently attended an event that the Cadets held at Burton Court in Chelsea.
The theme of the event was “Through the Eyes of Youth to the Future” and it included 10 display stands from each of the YOU London organisations. The Cadets put on a Drumhead service in the morning and displays in the afternoon to showcase their organisations to the wider general public.
The Royal British Legion had a Thank You stand at the event, with interactive elements based around the innovative items such as the invention of the tea-bag, the wrist-watch and the role of daylight saving hours; as well as poetry, propaganda and the words and phrases to come out of WW1.
Over 200 attendees visited the stand and there was the opportunity to guess the weight of WW1 kit, with a back pack weighing in at a massive 32 kilos (or 5 stone).
The Chelsea Pensioners also joined forces with the Army Cadets to say a big Thank You to the WW1 generation that served, sacrificed and changed our world.
